Inspiration

texas building color palette

Inspiration is Everywhere.

Our planet is a beautiful bounty of color, texture, shapes, words… so much. All one needs is to stop and look around.

I found this old photo of when my husband and I lived in Texas. We were stationed there for 6 months. #militarylife It was amazing. So much exploring happened. Inspiration is in everything so go have an adventure and get lost in the moment. #creativelife

It’s okay.

Be Okay

It is okay to not be okay because this is a journey not a race. Enjoy the process and just know you are a work in progress and loved just the way you are.

Reach out if you feel you need help. Talk to your family, your church, your school, your counselor, your friends, call a help line… There is always a way. I can say this because my journey has oftentimes felt like I was trudging through the mud, sinking deep and fast but I kept going. I am a work in progress and my faith and my family have helped pull me through. This thing called life can be tough… just keep swimming and it will be okay.

5 Things to Remember as a Creative

IMG_4932

Just a thought…

  1. Design a lifestyle that allows you time to create. Develop habits in your life that benefit your creative side that can sometimes be freeing from the everyday mundane and hustle.
  2. Having an organized space can give you a clutter free mind, ready to create.
  3. Remember that it’s okay if you can’t juggle all of the plates in your life all of the time. Just try and allow yourself some leniency to mess up.
  4. Be consistent in allowing yourself some freedom. And if the creative life is your career… schedule, schedule, schedule the time and the space and stick to it!
  5. Sometimes you should unplug and go back to the basics of art… fun, free, creative messiness. Try crafting, painting, collage making, building… etc. The point is to use your hands and free your mind from such a rigid format of life and work. Put those kids to bed (for those WAHM), blast the music, pour yourself a glass of (insert beverage of choice here) and do it to it. But above all else… have FUN.

Be Kind

pineapple-be-kind

The pineapple symbolizes hospitality, friendship, generosity and graciousness.

We could all use a little more kindness in our lives. The world could use a little more kindness. Our hearts could use a little more kindness.

I have hope for this world and I have love for my fellow human and I have faith for our hearts to soften in this time of turmoil.

Dear world, above all else, be kind.

Fight NKH with Delilah

beelinetothecure-flyer

The greatest thing I can do is to use my talents to help others.

I designed this flyer for a sweet little girl named Delilah who is fighting NKH.  Non-ketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), is a severe and rare disorder affecting about one in every 60,000 live births.  Delilah is a 2 year old who wasn’t supposed to live this long, according to her doctors, but she is a strong little girl who is proving them wrong.  She is a sweet and precious child who is learning to crawl and is starting to babble.  She is celebrating the little victories, the milestones that we often overlook because it is expected for a typically developed child.  Please pray for her and the other children affected with NKH.  The families of these little children with this disorder need your help in raising money to fund research to find a cure.

Please visit Delilah’s website and help with their first annual 5k race… Beeline To The Cure.  The fun run/walk is this Saturday.  Best thing is you can virtually participate which means you don’t have to physically be there to be a part of the event.  Or you can just donate.  Please Share this info.  Pass on the hope.

A Grateful Heart

dream

A look back to be grateful & move forward in confidence.

To reflect is a good thing, when it can foster growth for the future.  Looking back I am now so excited for what is to come.  The last 6 months came and went by so quick, seriously, did I just blink?  I’ve forged new friendships, strengthened old ones and met some awesome clients along the way.  I have grown professionally, personally & creatively, I have set goals and crossed them off my lists, my children are healthy, happy & oh so bratty… this is my life & I am oh so blessed.  And it is through this growth, this roller coaster, and this crazy thing called life that I find my inspiration to keep creating.

As I am planning my youngest child’s 5th birthday, I am reminded of how precious time is.  My littles are 4 & 6, how in the world did that happen?  Being a creative mama is a challenge.  Sick kiddos, holidays off, late night cries, temper tantrums, “Bubby is being mean to me!”  “Sissy took my toy!”, time out, “No you can’t have candy at 8 in the morning!”, jumping on beds, “Mama, just one more (insert something fun or tasty here)”, potty breaks, play dates, homework practice, chicken “nugs”, Legos, princesses, Frozen, Avengers… yeah it’s a lot but it’s an amazing job & they are my muses.  They help me to see the world through their wonder & innocence and it is such a great gift to draw daily inspiration from them.  As a busy mama I encourage you to find the time to be creative in your day, however you can.  Organize your time and you will see that a little bit of art, paint, pen & paper, hot glue, crayons, wood, (insert art medium here) will set you free.

My 2016 saying is…  Here’s to sunshine, dancing in the rain & finding the silver lining in every cloud. And I have been looking to the sunshine everyday and trying to make sure I see the silver lining in every moment. I have improved on myself, have grown so much and I look forward to see what other adventures the rest of the year has for me, my sweet family, my businesses and life in general. I move forward in confidence, excitement and with a grateful heart.

How has the first half of the year been for you?

Have you taken the time to reflect so you can move forward with a grateful heart and confidence?

So let’s think positive & always keep moving forward.  Thanks for joining me on my creative journey & please feel free to share with me on here or on my Facebook page or a picture on my Instagram page (@KatLangeDesigns) your inspirations & your story to creative happiness. Remember, look to the sunshine, have fun dancing in the rain & always search for the silver lining in every cloud.

Summer Dreamin’

SummerDreams

It’s the beginning of summer and oh boy it’s hot.  Sizzlin’.  I am summer dreamin’ of pool time and running in the sprinklers, of flip flops and sun glasses, of ice cream dates and toes in the sand… oh this is the life.

Cheers…. Kat
