“Build your tribe”
I cannot express how important it is to surround yourself with like minded people both in life and in your creative endeavors. As for me, I love my church and have found a group of non-judgemental, sweet, kind-hearted and all around awesome people. I also reach out to creatives in all genres and I love the feedback I get. It is truly a great feeling.

So today is a day that should be celebrated loud, with smiles and with open arms. Mental health should be talked about every day, out in the open, freely, like it is a normal thing because to some people the struggle is their norm. To not talk about it or to hush it and push it under the rug is part of the problem. Share your experiences and be open about your feelings if you can because we all have a story to tell.
Check out these stats from the National Alliance of Mental Health…
- Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.—43.8 million, or 18.5%—experiences mental illness in a given year.
- Approximately 1 in 25 adults in the U.S.—10 million, or 4.2%—experiences a serious mental illness in a given year that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities.
Mental Health By the Numbers
Those are some sad numbers. The fact that it is so prominent yet has such a stigma attached to it is just plain sad. So use your voice, tell your story and spread the word.

Here’s to a colorful year filled with love, positive thoughts and making great memories.
Hope your holidays are Merry & Bright!
I am so excited to share my first door hanger design. I have been working with this particular client on various projects since my graduation and it has been such a neat experience. I redesigned their restaurant menu to pair down the distracting elements and simplify it for clear readability. See Hot Off the Presses for the quick reveal.
For the door hanger design they wanted that same clean feel as the menu. So I kept it uncomplicated and used the same photos, type faces & color scheme as the menu but sans the texture and the grid to keep it simple and conserve space.
Overall I liked how it turned out. It was a great learning experience and most importantly, the clients loved it.
